I will be doing work in multiple cities. Will I need a business license in each city?

Business licenses (often referred to as “Business Tax Certificates”) are generally obtained from each city in which you plan to operate your business in, however, not all cities require business licenses. You would need to contact each city/county to determine their requirements.

To determine the requirements, please use our online permit assistance tool, 
CalGOLD, to find the contact information for each city under the “Business License” field. It will also give you basic permitting requirements that would apply to all businesses. Once there select the location and business type to find permitting and registration requirements listed by local, state, and federal jurisdiction. If your industry is not found by name, for business type, use “General Business Information.”
